Home dental service has been an endeavour of this very road that’s been less travelled but is the need of the hour. We first started our services in 2016.
A sneak peak into what drove our founder to start portable dental care for medically, bed ridden patients and people of special needs.
“It was a routine day at practice as a post graduate, fresh out of specialised dental training with a majority of the patients being senior citizens. A fine lady approached me with wrinkles exuding the myriad of emotions she’s seen and salt-pepper hair talking about the plethora of bitter-sweet experiences she’s been through. She politely asked me if it would be possible for me to come home to help her mother out with Dentures as she cannot walk to a traditional dental set up. This was just the start, and as days passed with growing exposure, I realised that there is an extensive lacuna in healthcare accessibility for the elderly and specially abled.
With the advent of advanced medical facilities, life expectancy has increased with a subsequent increase in the dependent geriatric population. Dependence as a result of disability due to various systemic illness have led to a considerable challenge for patients to access dental care.
The focus was therefore, on providing portable dental care to medically complex, handicapped, bed ridden patients or those with special needs to fill the lacuna of inaccessible dental care. And that was the birth of our heartfelt endeavour, ‘Home Dental Service’!
Unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore, you cannot find new oceans! Home dental Service, now in its 8th year is testament to this very thought! We look forward to doing our bit in delivering dental treatments to those who need it the most, our elderly!”

“Born to working parents, a majority of my childhood was spent with my grandparents and so I take the assetserty to say that I’ve been brought up by them, my not-so-strict parents! I hold very dear memories with them that I treasure for life! Like a potter’s strong and steady yet delicate and flexible hands on clay, they have moulded me into what I am today.
To give you reference to context, 35 years on a wheelchair and still having the immense patience and unbreakable strength to face what life throws at him with a smile coupled with poise is not just remarkable but also inspirational! That’s dear Appa, my grandfather! Wrinkled expressions exemplified the experiences and emotions that they’d been through and the tranquil yet teary eyes talked about the many memories that they’d cherished. My brother and me got life’s best gift, Ancestral Anecdotes!
My parents giving their all to care for and keep my grandparents comfortable is yet another very important value that has been deeply imbibed in my ethos.
My understanding of the need for providing portable treatment and specialised care for the elderly therefore started right from a very young age. It is this dormant experience that has made me believe in the possibility of delivering dental care right at home and has led me to join Dr. Ashwin in his effort to make dentistry more accessible for those who need it the most!”
